Inchoatus is dedicated very simply to:
As several authors have proven, in the right hands the genre of speculative fiction can be one of the highest art forms of the modern civilization. In contemporary fiction, it is the only genre where authors can dare to exercise their imagination unfettered. Consigning it to some kind of obscure ghetto does not have to be the case! |
We've had the privilege of reading a GREAT book: Eifelheim, by Michael Flynn Don't bother to wait for our reviews; go read them. |

We guide your discovery of the masterworks of speculative fiction—those creations that astonish and resonate across generations. Only through the conversation of critical analysis can the full potential of a selected work be realized. Neither message boards, nor posting, nor gossip, we are a forum for your critical conversation.
There is some great stuff out there. Let us help you.
Weekly Insight (New about every Monday)
So happy belated anniversary of the Roswell crash. As newly converted disciples of Ray Kurzweil, we're pretty confident that there are very good reasons that the Roswell crash is an act of speculative fiction as surely as the creationist museums in the southern USA but that doesn't mean we can't admire and revel in it.
Take for example this story on FoxNews describing the affidavit of recently deceased Lieutenant Walter Haut. His affidavit, released as a condition of his estate, swears off the story he was ordered to release as the public relations officer and instead claims he personally witnessed alien bodies.
A man who stands to make no profit on the issue lends a ring of credibility to this tale! What a wonderful world it would be if we were visited by aliens! Ah, the sweet siren call of wanting to believe in the Fox Muldur tradition.
And what a delicious jest it must be if it is a hoax and Lt. Haut is laughing at us somewhere at the pot he so excellently stirred.
